Keeping track of your boxes is vital if you want to have a smooth truck rental move. It's imperative that you use an inventory sheet and label all boxes.
With the economy still not as strong as it has been in the past, more and more people are opting for a do-it-yourself or truck rental move. Though you can save money with this type of move, it is crucial that you have an orderly system to keep track of your boxes. Otherwise, you might find out that you have lost of few boxes during the move. In order to ensure that your truck rental move goes as smooth as possible, we've listed some techniques that can assist with keeping track of all of your belongings.
Use an inventory sheet
You can either create a very simple inventory sheet that shows the number of boxes you load into the truck rental and the number boxes that you unload from the vehicle, by room, or use one of the many inventory control systems that are available from truck rental companies. Whichever you choose, the most important thing is that you do indeed utilize an inventory sheet.
Label all boxes
Though it might seem obvious or even time-consuming, it's imperative that you label each and every box, no matter how small. That's because you'll want to know which room to place the box in after you unload it from the truck rental. You can either choose to label each box with a marker and/or use color-coded stickers. For example, you can color-code all boxes that will be unloaded from the truck rental into the bathroom by placing a red sticker on all bathroom boxes. And all master bedroom boxes might have a blue sticker on them.
Load boxes that are going to same room together
When loading the boxes into the truck rental, try to load them up together according to room. In other words, load up all of the kitchen boxes in the same area of the truck and all of the kid's room's boxes in another area. That way, when you unload the truck rental, it's much easier and faster to place the boxes into the right rooms in your new place without having to constantly run from room to room.
