How do you pack those harder to pack items for your truck rental such as electronic equipment and lamps? Find out how by reading our easy packing tip suggestions.
Packing the usual belongings such as clothes, books and toiletries for a truck rental move is pretty much straightforward, but what about those harder to pack items such as lamps and electronic equipment? If you're not careful, you can easily damage a lamp or expensive electronic equipment. There are ways to help ensure that these types of items are transported in one piece and without damage during a truck rental move. Read about these methods below.
Lamps
Lamps come in all different shapes and sizes and they all require fragile handling. The easiest way to damage a lamp is by damaging the lampshade. Usually, lampshades are made of a very soft material that can easily be bent out of shape. Remove the lampshade and place in a separate box by itself. Label "lampshade" so that you know to treat with care when loading other boxes on top in the truck rental vehicle. Some lamps, on the other hand, come with glass covers. These covers should be removed and wrapped separately in packing paper, and then placed in a box.
As far as the base of the lamp, you'll need to pack it in a box that's tall enough so that you can close the top flaps; otherwise, it can come flying out during the truck rental move. You can also secure the base by placing towels around it to keep it in place during transit. And if you dissemble any of the parts (including the lampshade) of the fixture, make sure to keep any nuts or bolts in a separate bag, and tie it to the base.
Electronic equipment
Electronic equipment can easily be your most expensive items that you move. That's why it's crucial to pack these items with the utmost care for your truck rental move. If possible, pack up your electronic equipment in their original boxes since it usually has the Styrofoam that secures the equipment in place. If you don't have the original boxes, surround the equipment with either towels or bubble wrap to better secure it in place. After all, the last thing you want to do after a truck rental move is to replace damaged electronic equipment like computers or printers.
