The truck rental option for an office move is an ideal solution. It's easy on the budget and you'll have plenty of volunteers to help pack and load up the truck.
Office moves are similar to residential moves in a lot of aspects. You'll need to purchase packing supplies, choose a moving company or truck rental agency and start packing up boxes weeks before the move. But that's where the similarity ends. With an office move, there are many other items that come into play that can have an impact as to which type of moving solution you choose. Listed below are just a few of those aspects
Budgetary concerns
With a residential move, you might have more flexibility on the amount of money to spend on the moving company or truck rental. You'll have the choice to pick a full-service moving company (i.e. they pack, load, unload and unpack your belongings); a sell-service moving company (i.e. you pack, load, unload, unpack but don't drive the truck rental); or do-it-yourself moving solution (you do everything including driving the truck rental). But with an office move, you might be constrained by a corporate budget that will only allow you to spend a limited amount of money on the move. If that's the case, it's best to choose a do-it-yourself move, where you only have to pay for the truck rental.
Extra bodies to help
If you're moving from one house or apartment to the next, you may not have a team of people to assist with the moving. That can be a problem if you decide to choose the do-it-yourself style of move since most of the labor-intensive work would be left for you to do. But with an office move, you'll have volunteers (the office staff) willing and able to help. Simply organize a packing schedule so that each employee packs up their own belongings and then a few of the stronger staff members can load the truck rental. And when the truck rental reaches the new location, other staff members can then unload the truck.
Keeping staff busy
With a full-service move, staff might have to take a few days off while the moving company personnel pack up the office. With a do-it-yourself move, employees are kept busy working (packing boxes) until the very last minute of the move. In other words, there won't be an additional expense of paying employees while they're not working.
