Organizing your Belongings prior to your Truck Rental Move

abstract:

Organizing your belongings for a truck rental move is vital for a successful move.  Find out how to best organize your belongings for your move.

Moving is much more than simply packing up your belongings and loading them up onto your truck rental vehicle.  It's about organizing your belongings even before you pack up your first box.  If done right, it can save you money by not having to rent the biggest size truck rental vehicle and time when it comes to the actual packing and unpacking of your belongings.  So how do you go about organizing your belongings so that your truck rental move goes as smoothly as possible?  Read our tips below that can walk you through the organizational part of your truck rental move.

Take the time to go through your belongings

If you plan on moving in a few months, now's the time to start going through your belongings - don't wait until a few weeks before your truck rental move.  Take an area per week and really go through your belongings to see what you need to bring and what you don't.  For instance, go through your kitchen for one week and choose which dishes you need to take and those that are old and never used.  The next week, go through your kid's bedroom and separate those clothes that are too small and those that still fit.

Separate the non-essentials

Once you've decided upon which items or belongings don't need to be packed up for your truck rental move, the true separation begins.  Separate these items into three main piles.  One pile will be for those items that will be thrown away, such as ripped clothing, cracked dishes or expired medications.  The second pile will be those items that can be sold in a garage sale.  You would be surprised how much money you can make for one day's work.  You can advertise your garage sale in the local throwaways and through posting of signs throughout your neighborhood.  The third pile can be for those items that might not easily be sold in a garage sale but can still be donated to charity.  Most charitable organizations even have free pick-up services.  It's a great way to get rid of those things you no longer need but don't want to throw away.
