Protecting your home during your truck rental move doesn't have to be difficult. Read our tips that can protect your carpets and doors during your move.
Moving can be messy. You're walking in an out all day long during the actual move and possibly bringing in dirt from the outside into all parts of your house, not to mention wear and tear on doorframes and banisters. So how do you best protect your house during a truck rental move? Find out below.
Carpet protector
If you have carpet in your house, you'll want to protect it as much as possible during the truck rental move. The best way to do this is to purchase carpet film. This film lightly sticks to your carpet so that it doesn't easily move when walking on it during the move. Place it in the middle of the room and make sure to only walk on the carpet protector as opposed to the carpet. Make sure that any family members or volunteers that you might have for the truck rental move also utilize the carpet runner.
Floor protector
Equally important during your truck rental move is to protect your hardwood or laminated floors from any damage or dirt during the truck rental move. Place paper runners on these floors and tape the sides to the floor so that it remains in place. Again, make sure that everyone that's helping you walks on the paper runners instead of all through the house.
Banister protector
Imagine the damage that could be caused to your wood banister during a truck rental move when moving a huge piece of furniture down the stairs. To protect it against any scratches or damages during the move, place moving pads around the banister and hold in place with either string or tape. You can also try wrapping sheets along the banister.
Doorways
If a piece of furniture such as a bed or bedroom set is too large to fit through the doorway, don't force it through. Instead, try to remove the door, as it will give you some additional space when moving your items through. And be extra careful if transporting furniture through any French doors. Make sure to have one person placed in front of the furniture and one in back so that you won't break any glass during your truck rental move.
