Choosing a truck rental move with children can be overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. Older children can help with the packing and loading and unloading.
Moving can either be an exciting time of your life or a nightmare, depending upon how you go about. And that can be especially true if you have children that are making the move with you. Perhaps the most important thing to consider when planning a move with children, especially a do-it-yourself or truck rental move is to properly plan for all facets of the big move or at least as much as possible. Here's what you should consider doing for your truck rental move.
Get your kids involved
If your kids are old enough (five and up), let them start packing their belongings, with of course, close supervision if needed. This will get them excited about the truck rental move and keep them busy when they get home for school, so that you have quiet time to plan your move. If they're a bit older, they can even help with packing up other rooms such as the kitchen and bathrooms.
Again, if your kids are a little older (i.e. teenagers), they can even help with the loading of boxes into the truck rental and the unloading. That can be a great load of pressure off your back (physically and mentally). They can even ask their friends to join in the loading and unloading portion of the truck rental move.
For the younger kids
During the packing stage of your truck rental move, you might want to hire a babysitter a few nights per week so that you could concentrate on your packing. And for the day of the move, it's best if your younger children could stay at your friends or relatives, since it would be easier to move and pack without the kids under your feet. That's certainly true for a labor-intensive do-it-yourself or truck rental move.
Once you arrive
Once you arrive at your new place, request the older kids to help with unpacking for both their own rooms and common areas. Even the younger children can unpack their toys and clothes. It will certainly help you with the stress of unpacking, as the more assistance the better.
