Full Service Moving
By Marissa Emery, Moving Consultant, Truck rental.com Staff
Full service moving is the term that we give to the method of relocation where a moving company takes care of all aspects of shipping your goods from one place to another. Consider this on the other end of the spectrum from a truck rental. This has been the most popular method of moving until recently, where do it yourself projects have been gaining momentum. This method of moving and relocation can be one of the simplest of all the methods, but it is still important that you understand the various involved aspects.
Packing
All full service moving companies provide a packing service. Some moving companies do not require you to use this service, but if you do, you should expect to pay a fee according to how long the service will take to pack your home. The packing service will always bring its own packing supplies, and you will only be charged according to the supplies that are used.
Loading
Full service moving companies provide a loading service. This allows you to sit back and relax while your home is loaded into a moving truck. Moving companies will take the time to load everything into the truck in a professional manner. Since they are used to loading things, they will be able to pack as much as they can into as small an area as possible. You should be careful to mark all fragile items, however, so that they are treated gently during this process.
Transporting
Full service moving companies do the driving for you. Once a truck is loaded, they will drive the truck to the agreed upon location. This location can be your new home or a storage facility that you have specified. Some companies offer a tracking service where you can log online to view the current location of your shipment. Moving companies hire professional drivers, so you do not have to worry about who is driving the truck.
Unloading
Professional full service movers always provide an unloading service. They will unload everything from the moving truck and bring it into your new home. If you have things labeled, you can direct them on where certain boxes and furniture pieces will go. This process does not take long, as professional movers will work until the project is complete.
Unpacking
Some moving companies offer an unpacking service as well. This will incur an extra fee, but it will save you time and effort. This is a good idea if you are in a hurry to get your home unpacked. Do not expect that the movers will place everything the way you want it, however. While things will be close if you are there to direct, be prepared to spend some of your time organizing your new home.
Full Service Overview
Full service moving companies provide for all aspects of a move from start to finish. This can include all packing as well as all unpacking. Keep in mind that this method of moving and relocation is one of the most expensive, but it will save you a lot of time. If you have the money, but you are short on time, then a full service move is the right method of relocation for you.
